I think I find the fact that these Italian crews shot these movies in such dangerous climates and circumstances even more fascinating than the actual movies.

The cinematography and score I liked very much. Still, the brutal animal killings, as abhorrent as they are, really aren't too far removed from the treatment such creatures get in the "modern" world. I did an article on the subject some months back at my site.

Another thing I also find fascinating about the Italian cannibal sub genre are the excuses the directors throw the audiences way for the way the animals are utilized on screen. It's always this mysterious "producer" who shot that footage. Only Umberto Lenzi has been honest enough to at least admit to actually shooting such scenes.

As much as I enjoyed reading this, I would have given the film a bit higher grade considering the sense of adventure is in evidence far more than in other similar movies.

The pig scene apparently was simulated. I thought it was right humorous. Isn't the animal busy stuffing his face with sustenance whilst the native furiously "pumps" away at its rectum? Hope I didn't put that image back into your head, Vicar, lol.venoms5https://www.blogger.com/profile/13655919099947763891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4032450846239938332.post-43353627548097751902009-06-13T17:19:02.902-05:002009-06-13T17:19:02.902-05:00Sorry, next word verification was "thing"...Sorry, next word verification was "thing" - too irresistible.Darius Whiteplumehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17950956139088139753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4032450846239938332.post-62243957543369165452009-06-13T17:17:39.591-05:002009-06-13T17:17:39.591-05:00I love Ursula Andress, but would never site her as...I love Ursula Andress, but would never site her as a source ;-)

I think Mr. Anonymous has learned to find posts from the christians. I would hope it was clear that the observation you quote is in relation to the world of the film which I in no way think accurately reflects the real world. I have no doubt that the people of West Papua have been exploited like every other colonized indigenous peoples in the world, and I in no way advocate this exploitation.

I would also hope it was clear that the section you quote is what the kids these days are calling a "joke." I'm not sure my review would have been improved by exhaustive research into the history of the area, which it's obvious the filmmakers didn't do. While such a project would be interesting, I think National Geographic is a better place for it than a B-movie review site. Wouldn't you agree?

>>Also you will find that they do eat pig.

Do they also make love to them? It's crawling with fucking CANNIBALS!

Please do some research on what is happened to West Papua now since Indonesia have taken over. It's been ruined for the sake of money. It wouldn't be so bad if they got a fair cut of what was taken from their land.

Also you will find that they do eat pig.

Good point about these movies being like scabs that need picking though and cheers for the review.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4032450846239938332.post-75017067288963721032009-01-19T18:41:00.000-06:002009-01-19T18:41:00.000-06:00Weren't we just discussing how disturbing Salò was...Weren't we just discussing how disturbing Salò was? IMHO, it had nothing on this film, tootsie roll banquet included.

I watched this years before I knew anything of the genre. It was a $5 DVD, and I had my first DVD player. I was *thisclose* to breaking my self-imposed cannibal movie boycott, thinking that the Fabulous Mr. Berger had a role in this film. It was hard math--which has more value in my universe: watching a Teutonic Hottie ponce about in a sweaty, jungle fashion, or NOT watching a monkey meet its gruesome and very REAL demise...? I'm so glad I no longer have to stare down this serious moral dilemma.

And just think, this is apparently one of the "tamer" entries in this canon.
